The Physical Reasons to Get a Vaginoplasty

At first, it is easy to think that the primary motivator a Vaginoplasty is aesthetics.  This is an extremely important component in a Vaginoplasty or Labiaplasty procedure; the look of the vagina can be vastly improved.  The choice is more than skin deep, though.  Many women looking into a Vaginoplasty have a physical problem that needs addressing, as well.

The muscles of the vagina, with enough pushing and pulling, will eventually experience a loss of elasticity.  The trauma of childbirth can cause a laxity in the tissues that only increases with age, weight loss, and illness.  Once the muscles have started to give way, the only solution will be an invasive intervention.

Stretched vaginal walls mean less sensation during intercourse.  This can cause a decrease in pleasure for women, as well as some pain, as the loose tissues are more likely to pinch and pull.  Men may notice less friction, as well, as the snugness of the vagina is lowered.  During sex, the flaccid vagina can also take on more air, causing extremely embarrassing vaginal ‘fart’ sounds.

When the vagina looses its grip, tampons may become impossible to wear.  They will not stay in place, even sliding out of the body on their own.  More than just frustrating, the lack of elasticity can become a source of shame.  Women can feel an intense loss of femininity in this situation.

A Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to tighten the tissues of the Vagina, resorting a youthful tone and form.  The stretched, lax muscles are tightened, and excess tissue will be removed.  During a Vaginoplasty, the internal structure of the Vagina is reestablished, providing a much needed tautness.

Vaginal Rejuvenation is a total renewal of both the Vagina and the Labia – reviving the area’s constriction and aesthetic appeal.  Vaginoplasty takes care of the inner muscle strength, while a Labiaplasty corrects the outer anatomy.  Restructuring and sculpting an unattractive Labia will give it a more pleasant appearance.  A Vaginal Rejuvenation can also eliminate painful intercourse; restoring the pleasure in sex.

Dr. Vitenas has been performing Vaginal Rejuvenation procedures for over 23 years.  His extensive understanding of the female anatomy allows him to safely correct physical issues of the vagina, while artfully improving the aesthetic value, as well.  For more information on Vaginal Rejuvenation, or to set up your confidential consultation, call 281.668.8684.

A Male Breast Reduction Procedure

If you are experiencing larger than normal male breasts, you are not alone. The fact of the matter is almost 40% of the male population will experience extreme breast growth during some point in their lives. Sometimes the condition will resolve on its own, as hormones shift back into balance, but not always. In this case, the best option for correction may be a Male Breast Reduction. While at first the surgery may seem intimidating, understanding the procedure can ease fears and make a Male Breast Reduction a viable, restorative choice. Before Surgery: In preparation for your Male Breast Reduction, go over your current medications with Dr. Vitenas, he will let you know which need to be stopped before surgery. Smoking can cause delayed wound healing, so should be stopped two weeks before the Male Breast Reduction, and not resumed until six weeks after. The Surgical Procedure: The Male Breast Reduction is performed as an outpatient surgical procedure. Dr. Vitenas uses the Day Surgery Center at Memorial Hospital Southeast; located adjacent to our office suite. Performed under general anesthesia, Dr. Vitenas has a Board Certified Anesthesiologist in the surgical suite at all times. Dr. Vitenas may perform Liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue and contour the chest. If glandular tissue is present, as well, he will make an incision around the nipple, and excise unwanted skin and fat. The nipple is then repositioned to look natural and proportionate; then the breast sutured tight. Most scarring from a Male Breast Reduction will be concealed within the natural lines of the chest. Although some may be visible, scars usually fade well over time. The Recovery Period: The recovery from a Male Breast Reduction should take between seven and ten days; although patients usually feel well enough to return to work in one week or less. Some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort may be experienced over the first few days, but appropriate mediations will be prescribed to keep you comfortable. The results from your Male Breast Reduction will be immediately apparent, but they will continue to improve over several weeks, as the swelling continues to subside. If you are thinking a Male Breast Reduction may be right for you – contact Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery at 713.574.4934 to schedule your consultation appointment. We are also available to answer any questions you may have. Call or come by our Houston office today.

Kicking Crow’s Feet: Botox’ Newest Conquest

Botox is every where you turn – removing forehead lines, relaxing frown lines, diminishing migraines, and eliminating excessive underarm sweat. This past week, the Food and Drug Administration officially approved Botox Cosmetic for an additional use, the treatment of severe lateral canthal lines – more commonly known as Crow’s Feet. As the number one non-surgical treatment for both men and women, Botox has again and again proven itself to be a powerful tool in the fight against aging.

Allergan, the maker of Botox Cosmetic, is proud of this month’s milestone; as the product is the only injectable that has been endorsed by the FDA to treat both Crow’s Feet and Frown Lines. While Botox Cosmetic has been used ‘off label’ to smooth lines around the corner of the eyes for years, the sanction by the Food and Drug Administration is a landmark stamp of approval for the injectable toxin. To obtain the FDA’s stamp of approval, the safety and efficiency of Botox Cosmetic was put to the test through two clinical trials. The Crow’s Feet study utilized more than 1,350 subjects, 833 of them receiving Botox while 517 were given a placebo. Compared with the control group, Botox clearly showed itself effective in the treatment of moderate to severe lateral canthal lines. Botox Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a prescription medication, administered through tiny injections, used to temporarily relax the muscles in a targeted area. By briefly blocking the nerve impulses, muscle movement is reduced; therefore those wrinkles and fine lines caused by the muscle contraction are eliminated. Injections take just minutes to complete and require no down time. Full results can be seen in two to three weeks, and last anywhere from three to four months.

Always make sure to have your Botox Cosmetic injections performed by an experienced, well-trained professional. Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery has been providing aesthetic services to the Houston area for over 23 years. All Botox Cosmetic injections are performed by Dr. Paul Vitenas, Board Certified by the American Board of Facial and Plastic Surgery. To schedule your appointment, call 281.484.0088.
